What I did

  1. As the team’s second UX designer, I redefined Nombolo’s target user and created the 4 personas.
  2. Conducted user interviews with two groups of 6 individuals to identify new goals and need to create an intuitive home page and user journey.
  3. Built, tested, iterated, and handed off the App’s homepage, business onboarding, social posting, and social asking UI/UX.
  4. Improved Nombolo’s Figma design assets and solved the design debt, including color schemes, typography, icons, and layout.

Background

Two years into its development, the Ask and response by a real-time post function, which is one of Nombolo’s most distinctive features, was not present throughout the user experience, and the user was distracted by too many features, losing the simple continuity of the experience and the user’s ability to focus on the task at hand.

Nombolo is a fast-growing startup that aims to make it easy for city explorers to introduce Curiosity Seekers to the city’s distinctive places. The key feature is to reply to Curiosity Seekers’ Ask with a live Video Post, but due to an early lack of clarity in targeting, Nombolo added too many features that blocked the experience of using the app.
My job was to locate the users and what their goals were. As well as the tasks the user has to complete in the different processes to produce a user experience that meets their goals.

Challenge

Redesign of the home page structure. The Key feature Ask and Post function was linked to each function to smooth out the user experience. In addition, this was my first time leading the UX research process.

In compliance with the non-disclosure agreement I signed, I have omitted sensitive data and obfuscated figures. All information in this case study is my own and does not reflect the views of Nombolo. I’m happy to share more details verbally during the interview 🙂

✨ But here are some toolkits for me to kick off Product Discovery.
